The Franciscan Charities Social Advocacy Program is headed by neighborhood legend Larry Crawford. Through this program, our organization assists our neighbors in navigating the social services network to obtain needed assistance. Franciscan Charities maintains a complete list of current services and contacts available in Newark.
We have helped our neighbors in obtaining the following:
• Permanent housing
• Temporary housing, including placement in shelters
• Rental and eviction assistance
• Transportation
• Mental health services
• Food stamps (SNAP)
• WIC Program
• Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
• Social Security Income
• Health assistance
• Adult day care
