Westfield Public Schools Lend a Helping Hand

The Westfield Public School District declared one week in March as Service Week. The PTO worked closely with each school to come up with a service project that would allow all students to participate. Many schools made sandwiches for local soup kitchens and one middle school provided weekend food packs for the Rotary Club of Westfield to distribute to food-insecure children in the school system.

The Westfield High School chose to put together toiletry packs for the military troops and the homeless. Students, family, and friends donated hundreds of items – enough to put together over 1,800 toiletry packs. The majority of the packs went to the United States National Guard troops stationed in Africa and Kuwait. Several hundred packs of toiletries were donated to Franciscan Charities’ soup kitchen.

Thank you Westfield Public Schools for incorporating service learning and kindness into your educational programming!
