Illyne Ganley, owner of the Beautylounge in Summit, has been a dedicated supporter of Franciscan Charities since 2008. Illyne became acquainted with the charity after meeting Gina Ricciardi, whom Illyne describes as “beautiful in every way and exceptionally inspiring.” At the time, Gina was the charity’s Board President (and currently continues to fundraise and volunteer) and they chatted about the soup kitchen. Illyne learned about the myriad of social service programs the charity operates, aimed at helping the poor in Newark. They discussed the possibility of the Beautylounge carrying a line of jewelry in which the proceeds from sales could go directly to Franciscan Charities. Illyne was happy to help and a partnership was born.
Through the years, Illyne has also hosted several shopping events in her boutique and donated a percentage of all event sales to Franciscan Charities. Illyne has donated items, services, and Beautylounge gift cards to be auctioned off at charity fundraising events. When asked, here’s what Illyne had to say about her involvement with Franciscan Charities…
“I’ve been fortunate enough to volunteer in the soup kitchen along with my two girls and a friend/long-time employee. It’s amazing to see all of the people that work tirelessly to help the people that are in need in Newark’s West Ward. Even more than that, it’s incredibly humbling to see all of the families (especially the young children) that are hungry every day and rely on the soup kitchen for food, warmth, and friends. The Franciscan Charities’ soup kitchen family is a really special one. I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to help and be associated with it.”
