Brownie Points in Summit has been supporting St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen with delicious donations of bakery items for the past seven years. These treats are a favorite among our soup kitchen clients and volunteers—and help to bring smiles to our guests every week. In addition to the donations, the bakery’s owner, Bob Conway, was an integral part of getting Franciscan Charities involved with the Give It Fresh Today (G.I.F.T.) Program, which he founded at the Summit Farmer’s Market. The program allows vendors and shoppers to donate fresh produce to the soup kitchen every week during the growing season.
Franciscan Charities is grateful for the generous, ongoing support of Brownie Points and Bob Conway—from the baked items each week to the fresh produce we collect at the farmer’s market, we appreciate your thoughtfulness and dedication to helping those in need.
About Brownie Points:
Brownie Points has many items on the menu that feature only local, seasonal ingredients. Their specialty product is the Duffin—a delicious any-time-of-the-day combination of a doughnut and a muffin. Their delicious pies use only local fruit and their apples are from Race Farms in Blairstown, NJ. Brownie Points’ Thanksgiving and holiday pies are famous—in addition to pumpkin, apple and other staples, the shop offers more unusual flavors such as mince and chocolate pecan. About three years ago, Bob introduced French-style macaroons to the repertoire. Now they are a regular offering of the shop. Another specialty item is the whoopee pie.
Summit residents are definitely glad to have Brownie Points in town. The decor of the store changes practically monthly, but definitely seasonally. Bob and his partner, Peter Lloyd, usually paint the entire store between six and eight times per year to coordinate with the changing decorations. The windows are always clever, playful and definitely eye-catching. An extensive antique cookie jar collection, oversized cookie cutters, mannequins, and other flea market purchases can become part of any season’s whimsical decorations. And the Brownie Points packaging make it so easy to bring their products as a special treat or a hostess gift—it’s one stop shopping.
Brownie Points donates leftovers every day and splits the donations between S.H.I.P. (Summit Helping Its People) and St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen.
Brownie Points is open 7 days per week.
