A special guy, a special birthday, and a very special gift

Michael Ricciardi, a long-time supporter of Franciscan Charities, recently celebrated his 60th birthday and, because he requested no gifts, his friends and family surprised him with donations to the soup kitchen. In the photo above, Michael’s brother Carmine presents him with a check symbolizing the initial donations, totaling $25,000. By the end of the evening, the donation amount more than doubled to reach $65,000. Michael spoke to his guests about the positive impact of the charity’s feeding ministry, but added that giving hope to those in need is also of critical importance.

Michael and Gina Ricciardi, along with their children Sam and Sophie and their circle of family and friends, have been dedicated to volunteering their time at the soup kitchen and fundraising for the charity’s social service programs since the very beginning. Gina served as the charity’s Board President for a dozen years, co-founded the literacy program, and continues to regularly volunteer. The Ricciardi family hosts fundraisers every year, can always be found at our Coat Drive and Toy Drive, and, behind the scenes, do incredible philanthropic work. It is nearly impossible to list all that they have done and continue to do for those less fortunate.

Franciscan Charities wishes to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Michael Ricciardi and his family and friends for the very generous $65,000 donation in honor of Michael’s special birthday.

Happy Birthday, Michael!
